What’s your favourite food? For many Italians (and not only) probably the answer to this question is “pizza”: delicious, simple and cheap.
In Rome you can choose between pizza al taglio and pizza tonda.
You can find the first in the “pizzerie al taglio” or in the bakeries and you can choose a slice from many different kinds of pizzas. It’s a fast light meal, to eat while you’re walking through the streets of Rome.
Pizza tonda, instead, is a real meal. You eat it sitting in a pizzeria, usually after a bruschetta (grilled bread, generally topped with fresh tomato) or a supplì (a ball of rice, generally with tomato sauce and mozzarella, coated with breadcrumbs and fried). You can choose between pizza romana, very thin and crunchy, and pizza napoletana, soft and with high borders.
Romit suggests always to choose a wood oven pizzeria!
Attention! If you hear someone saying “Che pizza!” it means “How boring!”.
